They were authenticated by Monseigneur Laurence, Bishop of Tarbes, in a pastoral order in 1862. Bernadette had withdrawn to the boarding school of the Lourdes hospice of the Sisters of Charity of Nevers, where she considered her vocation. And on July 7, 1866 she entered Saint Gildard's convent in Nevers. As Sister Marie-Bernard she devoted herself to prayer and to caring for the sick. She herself was not spared suffering. On March 28, 1879, her condition worsened and on April 16 she left this world to live in the happiness of the next, that promised her by the one she called The Lady. Bernadette was canonised by Pope Pius XI in 1933.</div>
