On Thursday February 11, 1858, at Massabielle Grotto, a “lady dressed in white” appeared to Bernadette Soubirous. It was on March 25, 1858, during the sixteenth apparition that “Aquerò” –‘that’ in patois– signed her message: “I am the Immaculate Conception,” she said to Bernadette. During previous apparitions, She had requested: “Penance! Pray for the conversion of sinners!”, “Go and drink at the spring and wash yourself there!”, “Go and tell the priests to build a chapel here and to have people come in procession!”. Every year, millions of pilgrims come to live the Message of Lourdes, in the footsteps of the one to whom Our Lady had not promised “happiness in this world, but in the other”.
